History
1897
Volunteer Fire Department was established.
1898
Mr. A.C. Schick was elected the first Chief to the department.
1925
H.C. Thurnau was elected Chief of the new department.
1936
President H.W. Schnadt called the Board Meeting.
1948
Chief Bull orders meeting to discuss purchasing six lots from Mr. H.W. Schnadt.
1956
The Fire department and the village formally joined the Hanover-Wayne Fire Protection District. New equipment had been purchased. The department had become a strong modern fire fighting unit.
1968
Elmer Hecht was appointed the first full-time Fire Marshal of Hanover-Wayne Fire Protection District.
1969
Village of Streamwood decided to de-annexed from the district and became
a municipal fire department.
1971
The name of the district was officially changed to "Bartlett and Countryside Fire Protection District".
1974
A Cadet program for Firefighters was put into effect.
1980
A second ambulance tax referendum was held and passed by 447 votes, giving the Trustees of the Fire District the mandate to provide the best ambulance service that money could buy.
1989
The Trustees considered the hiring of seven full-time firefighters.
1990
Trustees adopted an ordinance to establish a Fire Commission. The first Fire Commissioners appointed were Arthur Regal, Albert Mategrano, and Norman Weaver.
1993
Fire Chief Hecht tendered his resignation as Chief Officer of the Fire District, effective January 1, 1994. His resignation culminated 42 years of service to his community.
1994
Chief Steve Figved was selected and led department from 1994 to 2002.
1996
Change of name to the Bartlett Fire Protection District.
1997

John Whitmer was elected to Bartlett Fire Protection District Trustee

1999

Art Pierscionek was elected to Bartlett Fire Protection District Trustee

2001
The department launched its web site, bartlettfire.com
2002
Chief William O'Boyle took charge of the department until May, 2005.
2003

John Whitmer was re-elected to Bartlett Fire Protection District Trustee

2004
The new and improved Squad 3 was put into service....with more room for personnel and equipment.
2005
Kevin Heine was named Chief of the Bartlett Fire Protection District.
Art Pierscionek was re-elected to Bartlett Fire Protection District Trustee.
Don Wisniewski was elected to Bartlett Fire Protection District Trustee.
2006
A referendum was approved by the residents of the Bartlett Fire Protection District to provide staffing for a new fire station.
2007
The Bartlett Fire Protection District was awarded a FEMA grant in the amount of $219,000.00 to update communications equipment.
Jim McCarthy was elected to Bartlett Fire Protection District Trustee
Broc Montgomery was elected to Bartlett Fire Protection District Trustee
An Intergovernmental Agreement between the Bartlett Fire Protection District and the Village of Bartlett for the construction of a new fire station was revised and updated
Hired 6 additional fulltime personnel as a result of the 2006 referendum
Promoted three Lieutenants to the position of Battalion Chief
Promoted three additional firefighters to the position of Lieutenant
Mike Falese was named Assistant Chief of the Bartlett Fire Protection District
A new 2008 tower ladder and engine was approved for purchase with a delivery date in late 2008 for the new fire station
