The Medical Access Protection Safe (MAPS) is a hardened steel key safe that attaches to an outside door without drilling holes and allows emergency personnel to gain entry to your home without causing damage or having to wait for a key holder to arrive during a medical emergency when time is crucial.
WHAT IS THE COST OF MAPS?
This is a lend-lease program with a one-time fee of $25.00. The MAPS key box will remain the property of the Bartlett Fire Protection District, but will be in your possession as long as deemed necessary. Should you require removal, just call the Bartlett Fire Prevention Bureau to schedule the removal. Your key will be returned to you at that time.
HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?
A uniformed representative of the Bartlett Fire Protection District will bring a MAPS to your home. You must have a key to your residence available. At this time your key will be placed in the MAPS and will be attached to your door.
NOTE: Each member of the district carries an employee photo identification card should you need additional verification of representation.
Remember...only fire department personnel can remove the MAPS and only fire department personnel can gain access to the key that has been placed in the MAPS.
WHY WOULD I WANT MAPS?
In the event of a medical emergency, when time is of the essence, the MAPS allow medical personnel from the Bartlett Fire Protection District to gain access quickly. It is a viable tool to senior citizens or to physically challenged residents who create highly protected environments and do not allow access to their homes.
